Noah’s Great Flood Was Historically Global.

The Flood was historically global, not hyperbolically global.

A review of The Lost World of the Flood: Mythology, theology, and the deluge debate by Tremper Longman III and John H. Walton, with a contribution by Stephen O. Moshier InterVarsity Press, Downers Grove, IL, 2018

It was bound to happen eventually. The account of Noah’s Flood has now been subjected to John Walton’s interpretive method, which was previously set forth in other books from his influential ‘Lost World’ series. This latest installment by Walton, professor of Old Testament at Wheaton College and Graduate School, was co-authored with Tremper Longman III, Distinguished Scholar of Biblical Studies at Westmont College.

Ironically, Longman and Walton are the ones imposing a modern secular/sacred dichotomy on the text.

In the same way that Walton previously insisted that Genesis tells us nothing about the material origins of the universe or the biological origins of humanity,1,2 Longman and Walton now claim that, although the Flood was a historical event, the biblical text does not provide a description of the actual event. Instead, Scripture only tells us about the Flood’s theological meaning using figurative language.

Longman and Walton maintain that the Flood is depicted literarily as a global event, but this is intentionally hyperbolic language employed only to highlight the Flood’s great significance. As a historical event, they say, the Flood cannot have been global, because this is precluded by the geologic record.

But, as will be shown, this revisionist understanding of Noah’s Flood is ultimately unfaithful to the inspired text. The Bible does not merely depict the Flood as hyperbolically global, but historically global.

Tangential topics

Longman and Walton address a variety of other subjects associated with the Flood as well, such as Cain and Abel, the Genesis genealogies, the Nephilim, Babel, geological evidence, and widespread cultural flood legends. For sake of space, this review will focus on their primary case for a hyperbolic Flood, and leave these supplemental concerns to be addressed by others.3

Useful concessions

Though Longman’s and Walton’s understanding of the Flood account is generally at odds with the church’s historic view of the Flood as a real, global, catastrophic disaster, it does align at various points. This is helpful to creationists, because we can allow our critics to make our case for us! For example, Longman and Walton say that the toledot structure of Genesis shows that it was intended to record a “sequence of past events” (p. 17). Likewise, the authors insist that the Genesis Flood story was not borrowed from Babylonian myth (p. 80).

Regarding the extent of the Flood, they affirm many arguments creationists have long used to show that the text describes a global Flood. Longman and Walton think that the narrative as a whole is hyperbolic, but they argue strongly that the Flood is depicted as worldwide, not local. They insist that the following points prove the worldwide nature of the Flood (pp. 45–49):

  • All of humanity was destroyed, which could not be accomplished by a regional flood.
  • Noah needed to take animals, including birds, on board.
  • God told Noah to build an enormous Ark rather than instruct him to move.
  • The sources for the water (all the springs of the great deep, floodgates of the heavens) indicate universality.
  • The water was deep enough to cover the mountains (including the region of Ararat) by 15 cubits.

Furthermore, Longman and Walton offer multiple reasons why, according to the account’s portrayal, the Flood must have killed all of humanity except for the Ark’s eight passengers:

  • Human sin was universal (pp. 45, 48).
  • The Flood was the solution to God’s regret over creating mankind (pp. 45, 48).
  • The judgment was a reversal of creation—a ‘do-over’ (pp. 46, 48–49).
  • The text describes a worldwide Flood, which would leave no survivors (p. 45).
  • The text uses “universalistic rhetoric” to portray all people and animals as destroyed by the Flood (p. 70).4

Bait-and-switch propositions

Unfortunately, many of the book’s 17 chapter titles, called “propositions”, are misleading. What is argued in the text of the chapter often goes well beyond the stated thesis. For example, here is Proposition 1: “Genesis is an Ancient Document”. How banal. Who disagrees? But this chapter actually discusses the Bible as a whole, not just Genesis.

Also, it leaps from the reasonable claim that we must understand the Bible according to its historical context to assert these non sequiturs: (1) the Bible does not intend to teach any science, (2) its authority does not extend to science, and (3) it contains scientific falsehoods.

Thus, a more accurate title for this chapter would have been: “The Bible’s divine authority does not ensure that it accurately describes the world”. But methinks that would have given away the game.

Proposition 2 is: “Genesis 1–11 Makes Claims About Real Events in a Real Past.” Again, no disagreement there. But a more accurate title would have been: “Genesis 1–11 makes reference to real events, but it emphasizes their spiritual meaning over historically correct descriptions.”

Proposition 3 is: “Genesis 1–11 Uses Rhetorical Devices.” What they meant was: “The figurative language in Genesis 1–11 is so pervasive that it prevents us from reconstructing any past events mentioned therein.”

Limiting biblical authority

Despite Davis Young’s blurb on p. ii, which praises the authors for their “evangelical high view of Scripture”, Longman and Walton don’t have one. Sure, they profess to believe in inerrancy, and they rightly say that inerrancy applies to all that the Bible “intends to teach” (p. 167). But, for them, these are weasel words, because these authors severely constrict what they’ll allow the Bible to intend to teach. They say the Bible’s “affirmations are not of a scientific nature” (pp. 10–11).

Ironically, Longman and Walton are the ones imposing a modern secular/sacred dichotomy on the text, so that even though the Bible is replete with factual descriptions of nature and historical events, only the ‘spiritual meaning’ carries the authority. In the author’s minds, then, the Bible can wrongly say that the earth is flat (p. 153), that the sky is solid (p. 11), and that our hearts help us to think (p. 9), yet somehow without affirming such things.

However, this is not the way Jesus and the New Testament authors viewed Scripture, as demonstrated by the fact that they treated historical and scientific details in Old Testament narratives as reliable revelation.5

Longman and Walton also approvingly cite the Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy, when it suits them, to rightly defend the Bible’s use of hyperbole (pp. 34–35). But, they seem to have skipped Article XII, which says:

“WE DENY that Biblical infallibility and inerrancy are limited to spiritual, religious, or redemptive themes, exclusive of assertions in the fields of history and science. We further deny that scientific hypotheses about earth history may properly be used to overturn the teaching of Scripture on creation and the flood [emphasis added].”6

A statement made repeatedly throughout the book, so often that it becomes a mantra, is, “The events are not inspired but rather their presentation and interpretation in the biblical text are” (p. 92, cf. 12, 18, 93, 95, 177). One wonders who Longman and Walton are attempting to argue against here. Creationists do not say that the Flood event itself is the object of inspiration. This would be a category error. God breathes out authoritative words (2 Timothy 3:16), but events are not words.

Nevertheless, when Longman and Walton apply this notion to the Flood account, they say, “There was a real, cataclysmic event, but the Bible does not describe that event authoritatively”, while it “does interpret that event authoritatively [emphasis in original]” (p. 11). So, then, they see the description given in the text as some combination of two possibilities.

First, it may be that the description of the Flood is factually wrong, though not authoritative (fitting in their category of ‘culturally conditioned’). Second, it may be that the description of the Flood is not intended as a literal description (fitting in their category of ‘rhetorically shaped’).

However, the driving assumption behind these false alternatives is that Scripture cannot authoritatively communicate anything that may be subjected to scientific analysis. But what if God wanted to? He doesn’t have to reveal the quadratic equation in order to say something that would qualify as science.

He could simply state that water once covered the mountains by 15 cubits, which is exactly what He did.

Hyperbole hypothesis is a stretch

rainbow

Figure 1
. God’s covenant to never flood the world again was made not only with Noah, but “all future generations” (Genesis 9:12). This implies that the worldwide Flood occurred in the real past and was not merely a literary device.

Though Longman and Walton maintain that “Only the most gullible” would deny the hyperbolic nature of the Flood (p. 39), let me risk their contempt. I do not deny that there are some hyperbolic elements in the Flood narrative, like their example from Genesis 6:5, which describes the wickedness of mankind by saying that “every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually” (p. 38).

As Longman and Walton point out, surely not every motive for every thought was wicked, including those of righteous Noah (Genesis 6:9). Still, the claim that the extent of the Flood was exaggerated for effect is utterly unconvincing.

Poor parallels

One problem is that the authors’ examples of hyperbole are disanalogous to the Flood account. On p. 49, they say the language in the Flood narrative is like describing the Holocaust as the “total annihilation of European Jewry”. But, as is typical with hyperbole, this is a simple exaggeration of size/scope within a single, short statement. The Flood, by contrast, is a complex narrative carried through several chapters, with multiple, varied indications that the event was actually worldwide and wiped out all of humanity.

Or, take the authors’ example of the Israelite conquest in Joshua 1–12. In several summary statements in Joshua 10 and 11, it says that “Joshua took the entire land” and “left no survivors”. But in Joshua 13 and Judges 1, much territory still remained to be conquered. Longman and Walton say:

“The author is intentionally using universalistic language and intends to convey, rhetorically, that the conquest was complete, but that did not correspond to the actual geographical scope of the conquest, only to the significance of the conquest” (p. 32).

I grant that some of the phrasings are hyperbolic because the author of Joshua is focusing on the victories, but that is not to say that the specifics of the account are ahistorical. The text describes in accurate detail which areas were conquered and which kings were defeated. So, what we have here are islands of hyperbole in a larger non-hyperbolic narrative.

But note that this is not what Longman and Walton are claiming about the Flood account. They say that the real (local) flood event is so obscured by the hyperbole that “we cannot reconstruct the event” (p. 146). They say that all of the elaborate detail in the Flood narrative is not meant as a historical description. It’s all just part of the rhetorical shaping of the story. Really?

Let’s consider some of these details. Longman and Walton dismissively say that many of the specifics in the Flood account, like the duration of the Flood and the precise size of the Ark, “are incidental and don’t matter” (p. 63). But how do they know this? Dismissing the details is a convenient way of not having to account for their presence. But it makes far more sense if the following were recorded due to the fact that they are historical realities.

  • The Ark was 300 × 50 × 30 cubits, was made of gopher wood, had 3 decks, one door, a roof, a window, and was covered inside and out with pitch.7
  • Animals went on in pairs (unclean) and sevens (clean).
  • The mountains were covered by 15 cubits.
  • The Ark landed specifically in the region of Ararat, which Longman and Walton acknowledge is a location uniquely given in the biblical account (p. 80).
  • An elaborate chronology for the Flood year is given with precision down to particular days in specific months in a specific year of Noah’s life.
  • Noah released particular birds in a particular order.

If these kinds of details do not correspond to reality and serve no particular purpose, the account is filled with extraneous twaddle. Longman and Walton say you can tell that a passage is figurative when you “have to work hard to take it any other way” (p. 25) but, here, they are the ones having to dance around the plain sense of the text.

Truncated Noahic covenant

Another problem for Longman and Walton is that God’s dealings with Noah after the Flood indicate that it was worldwide. The authors do offer an interpretation of the Noahic covenant, which is true as far as it goes. They say it highlights God’s continued grace toward sinful creatures (p. 103). It represents God’s commitment “to the continuance of the world and its inhabitants” (p. 104). It indicates “a re-establishment of” and “greater permanence to the cosmos’s order” (p. 120). Okay. Fine. Good. But there’s more.

God’s promise was not merely that He would now preserve the world, it was that He would not repeat such a Flood (figure 1). He said, “never again shall all flesh be cut off by the waters of the flood, and never again shall there be a flood to destroy the earth” (Genesis 9:11; cf. 8:21; 9:15; Isaiah 54:9). But what was God promising not to repeat in Longman and Walton’s view?

Although they don’t say, I suspect they would agree that God was promising not to send another worldwide Flood. But this means, in their view, that even this promise must be part of the hyperbole. In other words, it’s not part of the inspired meaning we can derive from the account; it’s just part of the furniture of the literary device meant to emphasize God’s gracious commitment to preserve the world.

On the contrary, the text explicitly says that God was making this covenant not only with the characters in the narrative—Noah, his family, and the animals—but also with their future “offspring” (Genesis 9:9) and “for all future generations” (Genesis 9:12). God promised us that He would never flood the entire world again, which means He once did so in real history.

The claim that the extent of the Flood was exaggerated for effect is utterly unconvincing.

Survivors outside the Ark?

As mentioned earlier, Longman and Walton admit that the Flood narrative describes the reduction of the world’s population down to eight. But they do not believe this really happened in history. They say it is only “one reading of the story” which understands Noah and sons “to be the ancestors of everyone who is alive today” (p. 162).

Plus, given their acceptance of the conventional millions-of-years age of the earth, “there was no time when all humans were concentrated in a specific area so that even an extensive, regional flood could wipe them all out” (p. 46). Therefore, in their view, many others besides those on the Ark survived the actual, historical flood.

But this is contrary to the text. The Bible emphasizes in a variety of ways that only Noah and his family remained after the Flood. These simply cannot all be chalked up to the aggrandizing of the Flood’s significance.

For example, Noah and sons were commanded to “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth” (Genesis 9:1; cf. 9:7)—the same command God gave to Adam and Eve (Genesis 1:28) because Noah was likewise beginning from scratch. Also, Noah’s sons gave rise to the “nations” (goyim), which spread around the “whole earth” following the Flood (Genesis 9:19; 10:32).

Finally, the New Testament treats it as a given that God “did not spare the ancient world, but preserved Noah … with seven others” (2 Peter 2:5; cf. 1 Peter 3:20). So, the notion that the Flood destroyed everyone extends well beyond the immediate context of the Flood account. It is treated as a factual, historical truth in all that follows.

Peter’s perspective

Longman and Walton say that the New Testament references to the Flood treat it as merely “an illustration of the truth that our God is a God who judges sin” (p. 98). Supposedly, they are not making any claims about the historical extent of the Flood. But this is dubious, especially when it comes to the Apostle Peter’s second epistle. In chapter 2, Peter discusses a chronological series of God’s judgments: the pre-Flood angels, the Flood, and Sodom and Gomorrah (2 Peter 2:4–8).

Here, Peter treats the Flood as an event of history, just like these others. All three serve as examples for people today precisely because God really did execute these judgments in history. So, when Peter says that God “did not spare the ancient world” (2 Peter 2:5), he is not implicitly thinking, “as the story goes”. He means to say that God actually destroyed the ancient world.

But was he thinking of the ‘world’ in a restricted sense—referring to only part of the earth? No. In the very next chapter, Peter brings up the Flood again. There, he sets up a contrast between the pre-Flood “world that then existed” which was destroyed by water, and “the heavens and earth that now exist” which will be judged by fire (2 Peter 3:6–7).

Clearly, the present heavens and earth is universal. But then the comparison indicates that the extent of the pre-Flood world, which “was deluged with water and perished”, is also universal. Peter plainly thought the Flood engulfed the entire world, not just a part of it. Sadly, however, Longman and Walton never even mention this passage, let alone offer a response.

Conclusion

Walton’s ‘Lost World’ books offer such a radical rethink of the biblical text that one wonders how the church could have gotten it so wrong for so long. But, when the arguments are evaluated and considered in light of Scripture, it turns out it is not the church that is wrong.

Longman and Walton may be clever scholars who offer some helpful insights but, in the end, their reinterpretation of Noah’s Flood doesn’t hold water.

Quotes from Spiritualist and New Age Leaders admitting New Age is Satanic.

Lucifer AKA false angel of light, Satan, Destroyer, etc.

Many top New Agers believe Lucifer is still the light bearer.  N. Sri Ram wrote Lucifer, who is Satan, descended from Venus bringing mankind ‘consciousness’. He states:

“The adversary or Satan is no other than Lucifer, the light bearer, the bright Morning Star: He is the Initiator, awakening the divine faculties of intellect on man. He is the king of the “Fallen Angels,” Spirits from higher spheres, who descended among primitive mankind of the Third Race, “… to develop in man, and endow him with his self-conscious Mind, or Manas.” (4)

Proof of New Age Satan Worship:
The Leader of the New Age is Lucifer.

By Keith Thompson.

Channelling beings is a major aspect of the New Age movement. If you examine the history of the New Age movement, in the late 19th into the early 20th century, you will see that even the early New Age Theosophists. like Helena Blavatsky and Alice Bailey were channelling “Ascended Masters.”

According to New Agers, Ascended Masters are a hierarchical spiritual group of evolved beings who have been guiding human progress or evolution forever. As one New Age authority explains:

“These masters are a part of a vast brother-hood of spiritual beings and angelic hosts who work with mankind for the betterment of life on earth.”(1)

It is the New Age claim that all of the leaders of the major religions (i.e., Jesus, Buddha, Krishna, and Muhammad) were all Ascended Masters, part of this hierarchical group of enlightened beings.

This concept is untrue and was only invented by the early Theosophists of the 19th century. Nonetheless this belief is very prevalent in the New Age community.

The leader of this group of Ascended Masters, according to the New Agers, is a being called Sanat Kumara, who came from Venus, with other beings, to bring humanity a conscious mind.

You can trace Sanat Kumara back to ancient Hindu traditions; however, the Theosophists have made Sanat Kumara the leader of all of the prominent figures of the world’s religions.

What is interesting, is that when you examine what New Ager’s say about Sanat Kumara and compare it to what they say about Satan (Lucifer), it becomes clear that Sanat and Satan are the same being that they honour.

The first point is the similarities between their names. Satan and Sanat are very similar. Theosophist Dane Rudhyar illustrates the point and explains how Sanat Kumara was responsible for giving man consciousness millions of years ago:

“Satan is an anagram for Sanat Kumara, who in the esoteric philosophy of India is the promethean being who gave mankind the fire of self-conscious and independent, individual selfhood.” (2)

Thus, according to Theosophical New Age belief Sanat Kumara descended from Venus to bring humanity consciousness. However, the same New Agers claim that it was actually Lucifer or Satan who came from Venus, bringing mankind consciousness.

New Ager Luciferian Illuminati New World Order Beliefs

New Age Luciferian Beliefs

Constance Cumbey notes that New Ager leader Benjamin Crème stated exactly that:

“In a November 9, 1982, radio interview over WLAC, Nashville, Benjamin Crème told the entire Bible belt that Lucifer came to planet earth from planet Venus 18½ million years ago and made the supreme sacrifice for us.” (3)

Lucifer – the magazine by the Lucis Trust, who are linked to The United Nations and many NGO’S.

New Ager, N. Sri Ram notes that it was actually Lucifer, who is Satan, who descended from Venus bringing mankind ‘consciousness’.

An old publication.

The New Age Lucis Trust organization likewise reveals that it was actually Lucifer who came from Venus bringing mankind consciousness.

This proves that the leader of the New Age movement and Ascended Masters (fallen angels) is actually Lucifer. Sanat Kumara and Lucifer are the same being!

“ … like the great teacher H.P. Blavatsky, for whom they had enormous respect, sought to elicit a deeper understanding of the sacrifice made by Lucifer. Alice (Medium), and Foster Bailey (Free Mason), were serious students and teachers of Theosophy, a spiritual tradition which views Lucifer as one of the solar Angels, those advanced Beings Who Theosophy says descended (thus “the fall”) from Venus to our planet eons ago to bring the principle of mind to what was then animal-man. In the theosophical perspective, the descent of these solar Angels was not a fall into sin or disgrace but rather an act of great sacrifice, as is suggested in the name “Lucifer” which means light-bearer.” (5)

Luciferian NWO new age higher self gods galactic Aquarius ascension

John Michael Greer, author of the New Encyclopedia of the Occult, noticed the similarity between Sanat Kumara and Satan:

“Satan has a possible echo in Theosophic lore, where the Lord of the World-the spiritual ruler of the Earth and head of the Great White Lodge-is Sanat Kumara … a Lord of the Flame who descended to Earth from Venus in a fiery chariot some six million years ago.” (6)

Influential Theosophist, Annie Besant, reveals that the satanic pentagram is a sign for the leader of the New Age Ascended Masters, Sanat Kumara (aka Lucifer):

“Sanat Kumara is called ‘Five-Pointed Star’…” (7)

New Ager leader Bejamin Crème admits that Sanat Kumara (aka Lucifer) is the “Lord of the World” for the New Ager’s as well as their God:

“In the coming age many, many people will see God as Sanat Kumara and take the third initiation ….When you take the third initiation you see God, as Sanat Kumara, the Lord of the world, who is a real physical being in etheric matter on Shamballa.” (8)

lucifer-all seeing eye-horus-illuminati-nwo-free masonry

Thus the thesis is established – the New Age worships Satan and holds that Satan is God.

However, Satan is not God.

Satan is just a fallen angel who will be cast to the lake of fire for all eternity along with his other fallen angels (Ascended Masters), of which Jesus Christ has no part, as well as all those who do not get saved through the blood of Jesus Christ!

As the Holy Scriptures proclaim:

“And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.” (Revelation 20:10)

Jesus Christ has risen. He is Lord. Amen.

Archaeological Discovery of Sulfur at Sodom and Gomorrah, Biblical Sites.

Archaeological Discovery.

The entire site is covered in the purest form of elemental sulfur found anywhere on the planet outside of a laboratory! This is one of the Sodom and Gomorrah cities that the bible tells us were destroyed by sulfur from the sky.

A viewer of this film on YouTube commented below it stating:

‘After many years being athiest, observing the universe and studying science of astrophysics. I found out that, with respect to the immense space (universe) and science of statistics, this universe is impossible to be Godless. Now here is the bible showing itself as the word and record of truth. Man, i am an eternal believer of a God ever since i have finished my own pursuit of a God but this bible made my belief more than 100 percent eternal. My search is over. I’m at peace knowing God.’

ABOUT  THE FILM MAKERS:

Mainstream Media Analyst. Former TV Presenter David Bass takes a critical look at today’s TV propaganda and how it ties in with the belief system of the ancient pagan mystery schools.

“What R$E is doing is something called contextualization, like Wycliffe does. He is making the Gospel understandable to to the philosophical equivalent of a tribe in the Amazon.”

Archaeological Evidence For The Red Sea Miracle In A New Documentary from Patterns of Evidence.

The British Physicist Sir Colin Humphreys, Director of Research at The University of Cambridge and founder of the Cambridge Centre for Gallium Nitride stated:

“When I look at the Exodus story through the eyes of a scientist, then it contains a lot of observations, which just make sense to modern science.”

INTRODUCING THE RED SEA MIRACLE:

By R. Brian Rickett, January 10, 2020.

The release of the new film, Patterns of Evidence: The Red Sea Miracle is just around the corner. The film marks the third installment in the Patterns of Evidence series. Here, we provide a glimpse of the opening personalities and questions that will engage viewers.

Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the LORD drove the sea back by a strong east wind all night and made the sea dry land, and the waters were divided. 22 And the people of Israel went into the midst of the sea on dry ground, the waters being a wall to them on their right hand and on their left. 23 The Egyptians pursued and went in after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen. 24 And in the morning watch the LORD in the pillar of fire and of cloud looked down on the Egyptian forces and threw the Egyptian forces into a panic, 25 clogging their chariot wheels so that they drove heavily. And the Egyptians said, “Let us flee from before Israel, for the LORD fights for them against the Egyptians.” 26 Then the LORD said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the water may come back upon the Egyptians, upon their chariots, and upon their horsemen.” 27 So Moses stretched out his hand over the sea, and the sea returned to its normal course when the morning appeared. And as the Egyptians fled into it, the LORD threw the Egyptians into the midst of the sea. 28 The waters returned and covered the chariots and the horsemen; of all the host of Pharaoh that had followed them into the sea, not one of them remained. – Exodus 14:19 (ESV)

New Patterns of Evidence Film to Explore One of the Biggest Miracles of the Bible

The Exodus event is the greatest story of redemption in the Hebrew Bible. The biblical narrative has captured the imagination of filmmakers and inspired countless numbers of people throughout history. Of all the Exodus miracles, there is one that is especially dramatic and punctuates not only God’s deliverance of Israel, but God’s judgement of Egypt. This miracle is the Red Sea crossing.

But was this event the large-scale miracle depicted by Cecil B. DeMille in his epic film, The Ten Commandments? Could it be that the Red Sea crossing was actually the small scale experience of tens of thousands of oppressed Hebrew slaves, near Egypt, and resulting from naturalistic forces such as an ordinary wind? Or, was the Red Sea crossing more along the lines depicted by DeMille in The Ten Commandments where an impossible deliverance of millions of people, through an untraversable deep sea, miraculously occurred?

On February 18th, 2020 the new Patterns of Evidence film, The Red Sea Miracle, will be featured in over 800 theaters across the US. This much anticipated film is the third installment in the Patterns of Evidence franchise, produced by Thinking Man Films under the direction of filmmaker Tim Mahoney. The contribution of this installment to the Patterns of Evidence series is that it addresses key questions related to the most significant event of the Exodus journey – the Red Sea crossing.

The film opens by introducing some of the challenges involved in the investigation, as well as some of the key players in the discussion. Filmmaker Timothy Mahoney stated, “I landed in Cairo, Egypt in April of 2002 with a small film crew. I was there to investigate the route Moses and the Israelites would have taken in the exodus out of Egypt. I thought this would be a one-year project, but here it is 20 years later. The story continued to grow year after year as I interviewed archaeologists, theologians and scientists with many different theories. Now, I’m eager to share all I’ve learned during that time.”

One important voice that Tim Mahoney interviewed was Hershel Shanks, founder of The Biblical Archaeology Society and Biblical Archaeology Review. When asked about the parting of the Red Sea, Shanks stated, “There are many miracles in the book of Exodus. Whether the Red Sea parted is a miracle. Whether the ten plagues happened is a miracle. Archaeology cannot prove or disprove a miracle.”

Mahoney realized that this investigation would be filled with miracles. Not just the parting of the Red Sea, but bringing up questions such as, “What is the definition of a miracle, does God work within the normal laws of nature or do miracles go outside of the laws of nature?”

Jim Phillips, Curator of Egyptian and Near Eastern Anthropology at the Chicago Field Museum of Natural History, comments, “I am happy for the people who are trying to quote “prove the Exodus,” in the sense that it’s an adventure. It’s a goal that in my opinion is unachievable in one’s lifetime. No one else has been able to do it over the last 2000 years.”

Mahoney also interviewed British Physicist Sir Colin Humphreys, Director of Research at The University of Cambridge and founder of the Cambridge Centre for Gallium Nitride.

He stated, “When I look at the Exodus story through the eyes of a scientist, then it contains a lot of observations, which just make sense to modern science.”

Austrian Egyptologist Manfred Bietak also makes a return appearance after being seen in Patterns of Evidence: The Exodus.

Timothy Mahoney interviewing Manfred Bietak in Patterns Of Evidence: The Exodus.

During the making of The Red Sea Miracle, Mahoney made contact with Cece DeMille, granddaughter of epic film producer Cecil B. DeMille, Mahoney asked her, “Why did he spend so much of his career making those types of films?” She responded “Because he loved the Bible. He thought the greatest stories were in the Bible. You don’t have to make them up, they’re there.”

Two geographers are featured in the production. Barry Beitzel, author of the New Moody Atlas of the Bible declares, “It isn’t any wonder that the prophets constantly hark back to the land of Egypt, and to the Exodus event as it becomes a paradigm of God’s miraculous saving power.”

Glen Fritz is author of The Lost Sea of the Exodus: A Modern Geographical Analysis. He further explains, “The first question most people ask is where is Mount Sinai? My first question as a geographer is where was the sea of the Exodus? Where was this sea that was parted and crossed?”

These personalities inject diversity of perspective, and keep the film charged with a point and counterpoint energy throughout, as others join in the debate along the way.

Major Questions in The Red Sea Miracle

Important issues that arise are related to the location and logistics of the Red Sea crossing, such as: “Was the crossing through a small body of water such as a shallow lake, or was it across an incredibly deep area, such as the Gulf of Aqaba?” Other intriguing questions include, “If a wind powerful enough to part the waters of the Gulf of Aqaba was involved, how could humans pass through and not be blown away?” Or, “If normal wind parted the waters, what does this mean as far as the supernatural character of a miracle is concerned?”

The Film Release – One Night Only – February 18, 2020

When asked about upcoming film release, Mahoney explained that The Red Sea Miracle is a Fathom Event with a one night only showing Tuesday, February 18, 2020. “What is unique about this showing in a theater setting is that you can bring friends who might not go to church with you, but will come to see a film in a theater,” he said. ”Afterwards you will have a lot to talk about. And you also can bring your family to see this faith-affirming film with powerful evidence matching the Bible.”

Here is an important endorsement just received:

“I’ve worked in a ministry that deals with the Bible’s history for 30 years. So, it is rare that I get a shot of excitement when I watch a film that attempts to cover such topics. This movie genuinely surprised me. It is scholarly, but thoroughly engaging at the same time. But most of all it tries to be faithful to Scripture. One of the best documentaries I’ve seen on the Bible’s history in years.”—Gary Bates, CEO, Creation Ministries International; CREATION.com

How You Can Help

Mahoney continued, “I want to challenge Thinkers to join our team in getting people out to The Red Sea Miracle Fathom Event. If you are a person who realizes that the Bible has changed the world and wants to share in that mission, then bring everyone you know to see this upcoming film. Here is a link to the resource page for The Red Sea Miracle where you can download posters and photos, and see the shareable trailer.

The Red Sea Miracle is the first film of a two-part release. It will give special attention to the journey from Egypt to the sea, searching the biblical narrative, ancient maps and geographical landmarks to understand the different crossing options and the miracle each would require.

In this film, viewers will not only be introduced to the issues involved, but will be treated to the kind of epic cinematography and biblical recreations only now available to filmmakers. Invite friends and family to this inspiring and enlightening film that will help us all to Keep Thinking!

Holy Ghost Power from Scotland invades Mexico and Jesus Sets People Free, by Arthur Perales.

Holy Ghost Power from Scotland invades Mexico and Jesus Sets People Free.

By Arthur Perales, Pastor, Mexico.

Earlier in the year, international speaker and author, Laura Maxwell from Scotland, toured our beautiful country of Mexico.

She interviewed Maria, a woman who left Santeria, that we had helped to clean her house of occult shrines, artifacts and idols pertaining to that death cult two years prior.

Filming Interviews

Maria’s powerful testimony was recorded in that interview and we recommend you listen to it.

HEAR BELOW:

Laura also interviewed me on the spiritual climate of Mexico.

HEAR BELOW:

Also during Laura Maxwell’s stay, she shared her testimony at Centro Cristiano La Roca (The Rock Christian Center), in Querétaro City. It was a powerful meeting, the Holy Spirit manifested with his anointing during the meeting and extraordinary things happened.

In Queretaro, Mexico.

We have tried to gather some of the testimonies of people who were touched, healed, delivered and saved by Jesus Christ, while sister Laura was ministering at the end during the altar call.

First of all, while I was translating for sister Laura, I witnessed that at least 7 people received Jesus as Lord of their lives, they got born again, the power of God manifested in a very powerful way.

One particular lady I remember said that she had been abused for years, you could tell by her face that something bad was going on in her life. She said that she was struggling to forgive the person that had abused her. Sister Laura told her that to be free she needed to forgive that person. translated and I guided the woman to say a prayer of forgiveness, while sister Laura was praying for her.

Ministry time Mexico

She was touched by the power of God and started coughing and moving in a way that looked she was going to throw up. The ministry team brought a bucket and she started spitting blood into it. When she stopped her faced changed, it was the most radiant smile I have ever seen, she laughed and shouted “I’m free I’m free”.

Another particular girl after receiving Christ said that she had been a part of different occult practices and didn’t know she needed to renounce of them. She started crying, completely broken and repented of those practices. Sister Laura started praying for her in tongues and I heard when she said in Spanish “salporatras, salporatrasdiablosalporatrás”, that means ‘Get out from behind, ‘. Sister Laura does NOT speak in Spanish, showing this was a move of the holy spirit. The occult demons did come out of the woman.

Other people made commitments to break idols and occult books. Also some of the men and women sister Laura prayed for wanted physical healing. One lady said she had gastritis and pain in the stomach and the pain left. Another one said she had a lump or a cyst and then gave her testimony that she didn’t have it anymore. There was an old man with pain in the knees that got delivered from it.

And many more things that there is no space here to mention them all.

With pastors in Mexico

The pastor of the congregation told me that he was very impressed by sister Laura’s ministry and he thinks the church needs to stop playing games and talk about these things so that people  can get free, for example, there was one Christian woman that said that she and her family used to look for UFO’s and extraterrestrial contact, that they didn’t even know those were demons, so she too she repented of such practices, along with her family.

HEAR BELOW:

And many more things that could fill up pages of people being saved, delivered and healed, praise the Lord. We give thanks to God. Jesus Christ was definitely glorified.

We look forward to more ministry visits from sister Laura and her husband Paul in the coming years.

With the Perales family, Mexico

I recommend you see sister Laura’s blog and YouTube channel for both the meetings at centro Cristiano la Roca and the interview with Maria a former Santería practitioner.

Deliverance For The Dead? A Deliverance and Necromancy Heresy!

Fake News Propaganda and Freedom of Speech Censorship.

Fake News and Free Speech.

The battle against “fake news” has become a war on freedom of speech. Lots of countries, particularly in Europe and Asia, now have laws intended to eliminate inaccurate news presentations. But these laws have opened the door to suppression of legitimate political criticism and opinion.

Wenzel Michalski, the German director of Human Rights Watch, recently spoke of Germany’s fake news law. He said, “It is vague, overbroad, and turns private companies into overzealous censors to avoid steep fines, leaving users with no judicial oversight or right to appeal.”

Like Germany, the fake news law in France has only made matters worse. French judges can now order the immediate removal of whatever they deem misinformation during election campaigns.

Russia passed a law earlier this year imposing big fines for those who spread whatever the authorities consider fake news. Their law also fines anyone who shows “blatant disrespect” for the government online. Individuals can be fined over $6,000.

In every case, people wanting to restrict free speech used fear of fake news to get the laws passed.

The European Union is taking it even further. They have developed a fake news warning system. It identifies so-called fake news, passes that information on to other governments, and pressures online platforms to remove such content.

Truth is absolute. But mere human beings don’t know everything. Eyewitnesses to the same event can have wildly different stories about what they saw.

Academics in the same discipline often completely disagree on the facts they’re trying to interpret.

In a democracy, the people ultimately decide for themselves. And they don’t just decide how the facts should be interpreted. They decide which facts they will believe and which experts they will trust.

When a government decides these things for them, that government ceases to be a democracy.

The US Constitution upholds the right of free speech in the First Amendment. For that reason, the US government cannot directly regulate most speech. But many in America are intent on finding ways to bypass the First Amendment. They have enacted a strategy similar to that of the European Union – massive pressure on service providers and social media platforms.

Facebook chief executive Mark Zuckerberg told the Washington Post, “People worry, and I worry deeply, too, about an erosion of truth. At the same time, I don’t think people want to live in a world where you can only say things that tech companies decide are 100 percent true.”

That should not be a controversial position. But millions were outraged when they heard it.

The government can’t restrict speech, so these people hope to silence their ideological opponents using private companies. Some in government want to harass tech companies into suppressing any and all speech that might be deemed politically incorrect.

And when the federal government wants to harass you, it can be intimidating to anyone. It seems to be working. We keep hearing of organizations, people, and opinions pushed further down in search engine results, unable to advertise, or being banned from various social media platforms.

Facebook Unpublishes Posts!

It frustrates everyone to hear or read blatantly false information told as truth.

But attempts to regulate fake news run into the same problems over and over. Who decides what news is fake, and what news isn’t? Everyone has opinions. Whose opinions should override all others?

For Christians, this is a worldwide problem. The Gospel is not considered politically correct. Some people in power see the message of Jesus as a threat to their power. Other nations are run by people who see the Gospel as dangerous to society.

We need to stand up for free speech. More important, we need to proclaim the Gospel with clarity and love in every way we can. We need to be good stewards of the freedoms we have for as long as we have them.

Pope Advances One World Religion Agenda: Presents Buddhist Leader With Manifesto.

“The Pope wants to unify all religions and all governments under one world order,” Rabbi Assur said. “What is the big surprise? He is not hiding anything. Just listen to what he says and who he is and his plans are right there for all to see.”

Pope Francis Meets Thailand’s Buddhist Patriarch

The agreement between the two religious leaders was criticized for its stance on the diversity of religions.

“The fact that people are forced to adhere to a certain religion or culture must be rejected,” the document read. “As too the imposition of a cultural way of life that others do not accept.”

Many theologians from both Catholicism and Islam have criticized the agreement as untenable and essentially unacceptable to either religion which both have supersessionism as a basic tenet. While members of other religions may see this as a praiseworthy effort, Catholics and Muslims have expressed concern that this agreement represents a commitment by the leaders to a process that is unacceptable. This is especially problematic for Islam which punishes apostasy with death.

Dr. Mordechai Kedar,  a senior lecturer in the Department of Arabic at Bar-Ilan University, noted the irreconcilable differences that make a pact of brotherhood between Islam, Catholicism, and Buddhism unlikely.

“Islam absolutely considers Buddhism to be a form of idolatry,” Dr. Kedar told Breaking Israel News. “Islam cannot make a pact with Buddhism. Only fake Islam can sit with Buddhists and sing Kumbaya together.”

Dr. Kedar had doubts concerning the possibility of a faith-based pact between Islam and other religions.

“The pope is trying to make a global peace, or at least show his followers that he is trying to make world peace. But Islam does not allow a peace with infidels. They can make a tactical retreat or make gestures that look like peace but people who accept these pacts are just fooling themselves”

Rabbi Daniel Asore, a member of the nascent Sanhedrin, noted that the Pope’s intentions were precisely as presented, with no subterfuge at all.

“The Pope wants to unify all religions and all governments under one world order,” Rabbi Assur said. “What is the big surprise? He is not hiding anything. Just listen to what he says and who he is and his plans are right there for all to see.”

The rabbi noted that Pope Francis was unique in several respects; he is the first pope from the southern hemisphere and, most significantly, he is the first Jesuit to be appointed to the position. Though established by papal order in 1540 to stop the spread of Protestantism and convert the indigenous peoples of Africa and the Americas, the Jesuit order has historically been treated with suspicion by the Catholic Church for being power-hungry.

“You assume that the pope is Catholic but he is certainly not acting like a Catholic,” Rabbi Asore said. “These alliances, his actions, are certainly not what a Catholic would do.”

“Brotherhood is a wonderful thing but one religion is only good if it is worshipping the true God,” Rabbi Asore said. “The pope’s vision of brotherhood does not prevent him from sitting in front of a gold idol or uniting with Ishmael. If he wants one religion, we know what God he is not worshipping.”

Thus he said: ‘The fourth beast shall be a fourth kingdom upon earth, which shall be diverse from all the kingdoms, and shall devour the whole earth, and shall tread it down, and break it in pieces.’” Daniel 7:23 (The Israel Bible™)

While in Thailand, the Vatican’s Press Office released a statement that calling Jewish cities and towns in Judea-Samaria ‘legal’, “further undermines the Israeli-Palestinian peace process”. Although the Pope didn’t explicitly refer to Trump’s landmark decision, the reference appeared to be obvious as he referred to the “context of recent decisions.”

Pope Francis has come under fire before for connecting the Catholic Church with the children of Ishmael. In 2015, 71 elders of the Sanhedrin tried the Pope in absentia for recognizing a “State of Palestine” with an official treaty. By doing so, the Sanhedrin claimed, the Pope was denying the covenant as described in the Bible in which God gives the land of Israel to the descendants of Jacob.

This marked the first visit by a Pope to Thailand in over four decades. Pope Francis was accompanied throughout the visit by his cousin Sister Ana Rosa, who has lived in Thailand for decades and is helping the pontiff as a translator. Thailand is a majority Buddhist country with 388,000 Catholics, representing .59 percent of its population. The Pope held mass in the National Stadium which was attended by over 50,000.

After leaving Thailand, the Pope traveled to Japan. Though he did not meet with any religious leaders, he gave a press conference in which he pursued his vision he euphemistically called  “brotherhood.” Pope Franci criticized “Christian culture…that speaks of peace and lives on weapons.”

Pope Francis has also made displays similar to his sitting barefoot in front of the Golden idol of Budda in Bankok that showed a shocking level of tolerance for idolatry. In October, a video emerged of what appears to be Pope Francis blessing a Pachama Goddess statue.

Pope Francis has also taken on a policy in which homosexuals are welcomed into the church so much so that the American LGBT magazine The Advocate named Pope Francis their Person of the Year for 2013.
