Two days ago, I wrote a post called The Testimony of a Former Medium. June 28th 2016.
The article is my response to a question a reader asked me on my FB page. Since then I’ve been thinking about the amount of attention given to psychics, mediums, ghost hunters. When God called me to begin sharing my testimony and writing my first book, Escaping the Cauldron, in 2010 I had such a burden to share the truth about mediums, ghost hunting, and the occult with people.

And I can still remember Christians saying to me “What’s the big deal? This is just a passing fad.”
Six years have gone by and the interest appears to show no sign of waning. In fact, many Christians are turning to mediums and ghost hunters for comfort in grief or desperation because of unexplained phenomenon. Views of life after death are being skewed to believe humans can return as ghosts which haunt or communicate with the living. There are a lot of people who believe human beings can become “guardian angels” or “protective spirit or guide” in their life.
None of these beliefs are Biblical.
As I’ve been thinking on these issues I’ve been contemplating people who are spiritually sensitive. How they can become drawn into being mediums as I was. This led me to a chat with my friend, Laura Maxwell. She lives in Scotland, we met around 2010 via the internet, and she is a former New Age Spiritualist.
Our stories begin in a similar fashion in that both Laura and I have been spiritually sensitive since childhood. She describes her experiences as “psychic happenings”. Today, while we were chatting I realized where our stories altered a bit.
My family were Christians. We went to church every Sunday. Supernatural occurrences began for me a little before or around the time I accepted Jesus Christ as Savior when I was six. My mother has the spiritual gift of discernment of spirits. I believe God gifted me the same when I gave my life to Christ as a child.
When I rebelled against the Lord, turning to witchcraft and spiritualism in my mid-thirties, I believe deceptive spirits twisted my inate spiritual sensitivity into abilities for spirit communication, psychic visions, divination, etc.
Laura grew up in a family of Spiritualist Mediums and New Agers. When Laura became old enough (a teenager) she began attending her mother’s Spiritualist Church and exploring the occult on her own. She opened herself to spirit beings.
Years later, when she learned the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ, she repented of her sin and gave her life to Christ. She had to be delivered of multiple demons who empowered her. The demons were gone and so were the abilities just like when Paul cast out the spirit of divination from the slave girl in Acts 16:16-19 NLT
When I repented of my sin, renounced being a witch/medium/ghost hunter, what the Lord did is remove the oppressing demons I’d allowed into my life along with all my abilities for spiritual communication, divination, etc. God sheltered me for two years as I learned of Him once more through prayer, solid teaching, and studying the Bible. When the time came, God began to allow me to serve Him and minister to others through discernment of spirits.
Remember, I had been a Christian when I foolishly turned from God. The Holy Spirit already lived in me and had done so since my prayer of salvation as a child. What I did when I turned from God is allow demonic spirits to deceive and oppress me. God saved me from all of that.
Where am I going with this?
There are people who are Christians (or profess to be) who are spiritually sensitive individuals but are buying into the world’s belief about spirits, energies, hauntings, etc. They believe they can operate in the world of psychics and mediums with God’s blessing. These are lies from the spiritual enemy of our souls.
In His Word, God specifically forbids His people from seeking out psychics, mediums, diviners, and necromancers. Why? Because they are not from Him. Rather, they are a counterfeit empowered by demons masquerading as “angels of light.”
As Laura says, you cannot swap God’s spiritual gifts (such as discernment of spirits) for Satan’s imitation. And when a person buys into what mediums and psychics are teaching/believing about ghosts, spirit communication, and the after-life that is exactly what is happening. People exchange the truth for a lie.
Here’s the thing to remember:
While there are charlatans and fakes out there, people who accept being a medium or a psychic are genuinely good people. They are doing what they do because they want to help and their spiritual worldview informs what they believe about what they are seeing and experiencing.
As Christians, we cannot adopt the beliefs of mediums and psychics as our own. That is exactly what is happening when you watch one of these shows, seek mediums or psychics for a reading/guidance, or listen to their advice.
The Bible is what must inform our worldview. The Bible tells us who God is, how our salvation is through Jesus Christ, how to live by grace, and what we can expect when we die. By going to see mediums, psychics, or diviners we are essentially telling God we don’t believe in or trust His word. We are seeking someone other than our God for the truth.
This is why I encourage you not to indulge in watching programs or movies which feature mediums, ghost hunting, or the world’s view of ghosts. If you are mature in your faith and your biblical, spiritual worldview will not be weakened that’s one thing but my best advice is to avoid it.
Friend, if you are a spiritually sensitive person make sure you know who Jesus is. Don’t open yourself up to supernatural experiences without questioning what you are sensing. If you don’t know Jesus then find someone who can share the truth of the Gospel with you so you can make a decision to follow Christ.
Trust and follow Jesus Christ. Pray. Learn the Bible. Get connected with a bible-believing community of Christian believers. Then wait for God to lead you, gifting you according to His plan and purpose, so that the Lord is glorified, the Church encouraged, and the world hears about salvation in Jesus Christ.

Our Spiritual Quest 
It’s never been a secret about her being a so called ‘white’ witch. Many singers & actors are involved in new age or the occult…they always have, just became more publicised in the 1950’s and 60’s. It’s just more blatant today plus darker. Lady GaGa for example has openly admitted praying to ‘Lucifer’, having sex with so called ‘aliens’, so has Kesha and others. I’ve spoken on about 6 radio shows about this….the music industry and Hollywood and their involvement in demonic practises such as spectrophilia and so on. Remember, satan influences this world, the film and music industries are part of the anti christ system. That’s why the bible says, ‘Be not conformed to this world,’ ‘Be in the world but not of this world,’ and so on. Because so much of it is influenced by demons and God wants His bride to be pure and holy, set apart to Him.

I have always love the singer Stevie Nicks and have been fascinated with her my entire life I am a born-again Christian. I love to sing her songs on karaoke night and I have recently been doing a lot of research on her and have realize that she is more than likely a witch what do you think about this?
