I asked author of When Dark Paths Meet, to reflect upon Halloween, having left witchcraft, spiritualism and satanism. He kindly shared the following.

‘This is what I usually tell people when they ask me about Halloween. It is seemingly an “innocent” holiday, but I call it a gateway to spiritual darkness.

Costumes are not evil. In fact a costume party can be fun, little princesses, cowboys, robots, or super heroes to name a few. Pumpkins, even carved with some artistic design, are not evil. I love pumpkin pie and pumpkin seeds.

Candles, any color, are not evil. They can set the mood for a romantic dinner or be used for light when the electricity goes out. Jewelry is not evil. There is nothing wrong with a wedding ring or a nice necklace.

 

However, it is what you are promoting, or condoning with these items, separately, or together that makes it evil.

Halloween celebrates ghosts, death, satanism, witchcraft, and any form of occultism. Jack-o-lanterns, black, and sometimes red candles, witch’s clothing, and pentagrams used during the Halloween festivities, all promote the spiritual forces of evil.

I strongly suggest you and your children not participate in this. Doing so, even just for fun, could, and most likely will open spiritual doors in your life that you do not want. If you are a child of God, I suggest you set aside this day, this Halloween, to pray for those whose eyes are blind and ears are deaf.’

“For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness and truth) and find out what pleases the Lord. Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.” Ephesians 5:8-11.
