In this Halloween-focused issue of the UK’s popular monthly outreach newspaper… GHOSTHUNTER REVEALS ALL. As Halloween approaches, an ex-paranormal investigator warns of the truth behind so-called ‘ghosts’.
Dana Emanuel knows the truth behind ghost hunting. A highly successful Paranormal Investigator across Florida for 15 years, Dana has lifted the lid on her experiences.
Fixation with the supernatural isn’t unusual as there’s something intriguing to the vast majority of people about exploring ‘spirituality’, and gathering evidence that the spirit world exists.
Whilst TV and movies will once again focus on ghost stories this Halloween,
Good News conducts its own investigation into why she abandoned her passionate work, almost a decade ago…
Deemed an authority on the supernatural, Dana led her own ‘Ghostbusters-style’ team but had nagging doubts about the ‘spirits’ and after terrifying attacks on her family she renounced her activities.
Paranormal Interests.
Dana admits she’s been interested in the paranormal – ghost stories, scary movies, UFOs, the lot – as far back as she can remember.And although she’d gone to church for most of her life Christianity was very much on the back peddle: “my involvement in the occult shows I wasn’t actually a Jesus follower”.
As a young adult Dana moved in with her grandmother, when “I personally witnessed the sounds of footsteps walking up and down the hallway…and my grandmother’s music box would start playing on its own”.
Then: “I had an experience that would truly convince me that the paranormal/supernatural was indeed real, and that there really is a ‘spirit world’. “Awoken by noises from the kitchen, “I wanted so badly to open my eyes to see what was making the noises. But I was afraid.’
This wasn’t a one-off and each time, “I would get a very eerie feeling.”
Sensing a ‘dark presence’, “I could see a kitchen chair move away from the table and slide across the floor! “
My husband heard me yell as I jumped up and ran out the door, and he followed me to find out what happened.” Dana’s husband reassured her the ‘harmless’ spirit haunting the house was most likely her late grandfather ‘watching over’ dear grandma.
Questioning the afterlife more than ever, she read “everything I could find” on ‘earthbound spirits’ and even visited graveyards to ‘hunt ghosts’.
On the first night, “we actually got a very compelling photo of what appeared to be a full bodied apparition of ‘Frank’.” Confirmed the name on the headstone, convinced her the voice heard was indeed “the earthbound spirit of the man buried in that grave”
She loved the ‘thrill of the hunt’: “The more ‘evidence’ I collected from other investigations, the more I become obsessed with the paranormal.”
Dana joined paranormal community websites and an investigations team, eventually starting her own research group.
“We would investigate people’s homes and public places that claimed to have paranormal activity.”
Yet Dana deep down still wondered if all of the hauntings “were in fact demons, masquerading as the departed spirits of our departed loved ones.”
But there was no way Dana was going to give up her ‘second family’.
Well Founded Fears.
But after seeing a ‘spirit’ of a ‘sweet innocent little girl’ throw a man into a wall with great force, she began to realise her fears were truly founded.
She also received a disturbing call from her husband back home telling her a basketball had rolled across the floor into the dining room, kitchen and hallway, around into the other door back into the living room, stopping in the same spot it started from. ”
This incident was a real eye opener, showing when we are at different locations doing these investigations, these demonic spirits have a ‘legal right’ to us and our homes.’ Yet her obsession only became worse as she was invited to speak at conventions, showing footage of the man being hurled into a wall.
Delving into the ‘dangers involved in paranormal research’ and ‘Ghost hunting safety’ students could hardly have read the compelling doubts in Dana’s own mind.
“It had not come to my full knowledge yet that all these spirits lie about their true identity.
“We already knew sometimes these demonic spirits will mimic a dead loved one, so why was it so hard to accept this may always be the case?” As Dana prayed for truth, her husband suffered physical attacks, even being tormented by a seductive woman in a dream.
Seeking, Dana read the Bible and watched videos of former occultists. And after her four-year-old grandson was left “terrified and confused” on seeing an apparent ‘monster’, she visited church with her husband.
Leaving The Occult.
On hearing the minister say she had to stop her occult activities, by now she knew this to be true. “I made the decision to repent and truly turn to Jesus and to live for Him, no matter what that meant.
“From that moment on, my eyes were truly opened, and I could see all the deception for what it was. “After our deliverance, all paranormal activity and attacks from that day forward stopped.”
Dana was also healed physically, after prayer for a breast tumour the biopsy returned negative.
Dana has shared her story on radio shows and podcasts, and at churches. She’s prayed for many “caught in the web of deception in the Occult and New Age.”
