Last October, while teaching non-churched kids about Halloween, at a youth club in Scotland, I used details from a tract, from ReachOut Trust. We handed these tracts out at the end of the night.
Kids opened up & told us some Occult activities either they or their parents had been involved in & we were able to tell them about Jesus, and to call on Him if their school pals did anything scary at Halloween.

I’ve collected about 15 videos on the origins & realties of Halloween by police, EX Satanists, EX Occultists & others. They admit true diabolical practices & even ritualistic murders are performed by some, but not all types of Satanists, during all of October, but particularly on this night of the year. Traditional and Generational Satanists call Halloween ‘Satan’s Birthday.’

As an EX Spiritualist, I remember Mediums would say Halloween was the best night of the year to contact spirits; so called ‘Spirit Guides’ and alleged ‘dead relatives’! Derek Acorah, the UK’s best known Medium still says this today. Is that not a telling statement, considering it’s also the most evil night of the year for Satanists?! Could it be that Mediums find seances easiest on Halloween, simply because there are more spirits around, having been summoned by certain types of Satanists, during their annual Satanic celebrations & rituals on 31st October? Yet Mediums don’t seem to see that possible link, or consider that their ‘spirits’ could actually be evil impostors & demonic in nature.
I’ve been honoured to speak about Halloween in churches & radio interviews about H’een since 2008, including one with an EX Satanist in 2011, Steve Burns from Canada. From our experience, we explained that EX Occultists know truths on Halloween, so it’s perhaps worth hearing their true stories, before you make decisions on any Halloween party invitations you may receive.
Some say when they participate in Halloween it’s just fun, pretending to be goblins, devils, etc, & they don’t literally participate in any actual Occult activity. Maybe so, but pretending to be such things is a form of imitation. Does the Bible encourage anything like Halloween or imitation of it? 3 John 1:11 ‘Beloved, do not imitate evil but imitate good.’ And also, Ephes 5:11 ‘do not imitate the deeds of darkness but rather expose them …’ ‘Abstain from all appearance of evil,’ 1 Thessalonians 5:22 and Ephesians 5, 1-2. 1 ‘Be ye therefore imitators of God, as beloved children; and walk in love …’
If you even go to a Halloween event as a guest, you are, condoning it and in a sense ‘partnering’ with the very spirit of Halloween. Indeed with any occult spirits that may actually be there waiting for the possibility, or opportunities, that Occult activities may occur. They know this can give them an open door into people’s lives. Even if, at it’s basic level, it’s simply producing a fear in the hearts of children. We mustn’t be ignorant of the wiles of the enemy. Spirits do indeed wander around looking for ‘open doors’. They are intelligent and know when and where events are occurring in your city. As opportunists they will plan where they are going next. Remember when Satan tempted Jesus, the scripture says he waited until an opportune time. His demons do the same today.
Ultimately, for Christians, what are you actually celebrating or impersonating on Halloween? What is there to praise or celebrate about ghouls, goblins, devils, fear, death, blood and gore! Jesus is Life. He came to bring peace and life. Life in abundance.
Perhaps, we could all consider organising a prayer night on Halloween instead, praying for the practical safety of kids who go Trick or Treating, and also the spiritual protection of those in our neighbourhoods who may be forced into being involved in some darker activities on this night. A meeting for praise and worship to glorify Christ and change the focus of this night would be welcomed by many I feel. Does your church do that? If not, why not organise such a night!
Lighten the night!
I’ve been saved since 1994, but can’t remember hearing of an adult prayer night on H’een, until 2012! I guess it could be just because most Christians are unaware of what spirits do that night, the spiritual activity or what actually can occur that night, (e.g., if there’s any Traditional Satanists in our cities planning animal & human abuse and sacrifices). Or maybe most churches aren’t bold enough to take it on, or are concerned their church members may worry about some facts of Halloween, so it’s best not to mention it or give the devil any attention!
But prevention is better than cure. If we pray on Halloween, our prayers could prevent someone being a victim of SRA, and maybe that same person would actually find your church and seek your help after the crime! So why not pray before such things occur? I’ve hated the years I spent on H’een when I was just sitting at home praying, when we could have been gathered in a big prayer meeting somewhere! I know some Christian groups in the USA will be fasting & praying all day of 31st October. It’d be great if more Christians could encourage Christians over the UK to do it too.
Last year, on Halloween 2012, I was invited to go with a group of Christians to set up a stall and offer pray to people who were having a huge Halloween street party. There were other stalls too, eg, Mediums offering psychic readings or ‘Ghost Tours’ around the area that night. There were New Age book stalls too. I was so glad I went and so grateful to the Lord, that some of those people who came to us asking for prayer, experienced Jesus and some even received physical healing from Him! We gave out leaflets so they could follow up on their journey towards Jesus as Saviour.
We are called to be salt and light, and take His light into areas of darkness. I would definately do that again and encourage any of you to pray about whether to do the same on Halloween too!

”The past few days I’ve been very troubled by a situation brought to my attention. Friends have been asking for my opinion regarding an emotional brouhaha which broke out among some Christian and Pagan women faith bloggers involved in a Top 25 contest.
My initial response was expressed in The Gospel~ Love Which Offends and followed byLoving Others in the Face of Fear. The problem is another issue needs to be addressed before I can move on. I don’t know why I feel invested in a situation I had no part in. Yet the more I learn the greater my desire to respond to how “the feud” got started in the first place. Why?
Because a Christian started it. And it continues to escalate despite efforts to introduce reason into the debate.
I’ve been thinking, praying, and reading scripture in an effort to get a handle on this thing, asking the Holy Spirit for wisdom. What came to mind was a deeper study of Paul’s visit to Athens. Out came my study bibles (ESV and NLT) so I could read Acts 17:16-34 (NLT). I took my time reading both translations and all the study notes as things became clear to me.
What struck me as I read the account of Paul in Athens was his immediate response to the sight of idols throughout the city. The verse makes it clear he was troubled in the sense he was burdened by what he saw. There is no indication of indignation but deep concern to share the good news of Jesus Christ with the Athenians. His response was to go into the marketplace where he reasoned with the Jews and devout people he found there. He conversed with the philosophers and was invited to present his teaching at the Areopagus (Mars Hill).
The bottom line in all of this is attitude.The verses describe how Paul made his case citing the Athenians as a deeply religious people. He pointed out an idol dedicated “To the unknown god” and proceeded to tell them about God.
“He is the God who made the world and everything in it. Since he is Lord of heaven and earth, he doesn’t live in man-made temples, and human hands can’t serve his needs—for he has no needs. He himself gives life and breath to everything, and he satisfies every need. From one manhe created all the nations throughout the whole earth. He decided beforehand when they should rise and fall, and he determined their boundaries.
“His purpose was for the nations to seek after God and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him—though he is not far from any one of us. For in him we live and move and exist. As some of yourown poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’ And since this is true, we shouldn’t think of God as an idol designed by craftsmen from gold or silver or stone.
“God overlooked people’s ignorance about these things in earlier times, but now he commands everyone everywhere to repent of their sins and turn to him. For he has set a day for judging the world with justice by the man he has appointed, and he proved to everyone who this is by raising him from the dead.” Acts17:24-31 (NLT)
Paul didn’t waver from addressing the sin of idolatry all the while speaking to his audience with respect. Some of the people scoffed, others were interested and wanted to learn more, and a few became believers in Jesus Christ that day. Paul got his point across without insulting his listeners or belittling their current beliefs. He confidently pointed them to God while paying attention to his surroundings. He persuaded people with the truth. Paul went and did it again in Corinth…and Ephesus…and…well you get the point.
Paul never compromised on sin. Ever. But he knew how to speak to his audience. He understood when to drive home a point and when to leave the debate. We could learn a thing or two from Paul about talking to people of other beliefs and that includes Wiccans, Witches, and Pagans. We must be able to share the truth about sin and God’s grace with an attitude acknowledging their worth as human beings. God is reaching out in love to every single Witch, Wiccan, or Pagan (“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” Romans 3:23 NIV). As Christians we should present the gospel with sound reason not vitriol.
Those listening may choose to believe or not but that is their decision.
“Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law.To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.” 1 Corinthians 9:19-23 (NIV)
I read an article yesterday posted by Tullian Tchividjian, the grandson of Billy and Ruth Bell Graham. In The Pitfall of Perfectionism the point was made that as Christians we are free in Jesus Christ. Paul was such an effective evangelist because he understood this freedom. He was able to discern the needs of the people around him without compromising the truth. Can you imagine the reaction if we stop bludgeoning people with our Bibles and share the gospel? If we start living in the freedom Jesus Christ provides through relationship with Him without fear? I’m sure people will still get offended but it will be on them. There will be others who will listen and want to know more. There will be the few who say “yes” to Jesus.
We live in an era where paganism is making a come-back. Wicca is one of the fastest growing religions in North America. Today’s Wiccans, Witches, and Pagans aren’t all that different from the people Paul was addressing on Mars Hill.

No Condemnation by Doug Harris.
“Romans 8 verse 1 gives Christians a wonderful promise, “Therefore there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus” We can live in that promise and see its effects in our lives every day. However, the question I would like to ask is do we pass on these benefits to others, especially to those who have not as yet come into the fullness of the promise?
First, what does the word actually mean? It comes from a root Greek word meaning ‘to judge against’ and can be translated as an ‘adverse sentence’. If we are condemned we have an adverse sentence against us that could be on our record for the rest of our lives. As we are justified in Christ there is no ‘adverse judgement’.
Just think for a minute then, if God does not condemn our brothers and sisters and we do, we are going against the living Word of God. There is such a difference between reaching out to correct someone in love and condemning them with an ‘adverse judgement’. I guess it really comes down to the attitude we hold when sharing and speaking words. Do we really want to hurt them or win them by what we say and do? Do we want to uncover their sin and wrong for all to see or cover it in Christ so they can deal with it?
How did Jesus treat people when He met them – those who were not his yet – did He call them an adulterer/ess or a liar or a cheat? No! To the one who was still in that state He showed amazing love and grace and ensured He did not give an ‘adverse judgement’. Indeed John 3:17 clear says He did not come to do that.
John 4 is the most amazing testimony to this fact and is a perfect illustration as to how we should treat non-Christians. I will share just a few thoughts here but go through and look at the chapter yourself and see what
Verses 10 – 14 – Jesus does not even begin by talking about the woman and what she has so obviously done wrong but He talks about Himself. He shows her that what He has is far better than what she has. The moment someone sees there is something better they are ready to leave what they have for the better! But if they are enjoying what they have and see no more than that – why should they leave? Yet when they see there is something so much better that they can have they begin to consider the possibility. That is the picture we need to paint – not how black and awful is their sin but how great and magnificent is the one who died to set them free from that and give them a live much more abundant.
Verse 15 – This leads the woman to want what Jesus has rather than being forced away. No, she did not understand exactly what Jesus was saying, but she knew it was better and she would be delivered from the humdrum awful life she was in.
Verses 16-18 – Jesus still has to deal with what is wrong in the woman’s life but He does it in such a loving way. He begins with a question, not an accusation. It is far better to ask a question that will cause the person to open up to you rather than an accusation that could cause them to clam up.
Verse 29 – She knows that something is different. When she left in the morning she did not want to talk about her past life but now she was prepared to shout it from the rooftops. She saw her past sinful life in a whole new light because the love and grace of Christ had touched her. She is not absolutely sure what it is but now there is a big ‘?’ in her life. Could this be?
Let’s share the love of Christ and the grace of Christ and allow that to minister to people who do not know Him and let’s treat one another in the same way.”
