My Son and the Afterlife: Conversations from the Other Side

My Christian friend, the author and EX Medium, Kristine McGuire from the USA, wrote this article recently on her Blog, and asked me to share it with you.

In the last several years, books about “communicating from heaven” or “experiencing heaven” have been incredibly popular. In both the Christian and secular markets, anyone who publishes a book affirming spirit visitation or any kind of “near death experience” it’s going to be a number one best seller.

Which is why I was not at all surprised when a Facebook friend messaged me today, distressed, because the Fox and Friends morning show had a guest interview with the latest author of a book detailing how she and her family have been interacting with her deceased son for the past four years.

Appearing with Dr. Elisa Mehus, was a medium with whom she’s been working. Dr. Medhus was formerly an atheist before the encounters with her “son”” forced her to research all she could on NDE (near death experience), quantum physics, views of the afterlife, spirit communication, etc. She began a blog (Channeling Erik) which this book is based upon.

From the description of the book on Amazon: “At once tragic and uplifting, Erik speaks from the other side with candor, wisdom, and depth as he describes his own experiences and provides new answers about the nature of souls, death, and the afterlife—answers that have the potential to change our lives forever”.

Here’s the tragic part in all this. This woman is not communicating with her precious son. Those family and friends who’ve ”seen” him are not being visited by Erik’s ghost. What’s happened is she (along with all the people who read her popular blog and will read her book) this medium, and all those who are turning to “Erik” for “wisdom” or answers about the afterlife are being lied to by a deceptive spirit masquerading as her son.

The tragedy is in her grief and skepticism (because not only did her twenty year old son die which is sad enough, but he took his own life) she looked for answers in all the wrong places when this spirit being made its presence known. As a result, many who are seeking answers are “listening” to “Erik” and being fed what they want to hear instead of the truth. And I will not be surprised when there are people who claim to be Christians, lining up to find (false) “comfort” in this spirit beings “messages”.

Why?

“The Spirit clearly says that in later times some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Such teachings come through hypocritical liars, whose consciences have been seared as with a hot iron.” 1 Timothy 4:1-2 NIV

The enemy has been deceiving people through mediums psychics, and “channelers” for thousands of years. Our time is no different. What’s making the difference for our society now is its become acceptable, desirable, and mainstream to seek communication with “loved ones” who’ve “crossed over”.

One question I get asked is why would these spirit beings masquerade as deceased human beings and appear to the living? Why would a demonic spirit appear to an atheist and her family to create this deception? Because they are primed to believe it, even if it takes a long journey to get there. Look at what’s come of this! And not surprisingly, the messages are similar to what’s been communicated by many others before “Erik”:

We all have god consciousness, we can all become like god, we are all god, etc.
There is no judgement, no hell, no “one way through Jesus Christ”, no need for salvation, no sin, etc.
We are all beings of light.
Jesus was not the Son of God, he was just a man with god consciousness he recognized.
Buddha, Muhammad, Krishna, and Jesus were all the same, etc.
We can choose to live many lives or go into the universal energy of god, etc.
I’ve read the books written by J.Z. Knight as she channeled a spirit. In the past, I listened to the messages of spirit beings when acting as a medium myself, as well as other mediums (before finding freedom from this deception). Looking through the “conversations” of Dr. Mehus and “Erik” as channeled by the medium, his “message” is no different. It is all the same lie told to Eve and Adam in the beginning– You Surely Won’t Die. You Will Be Like God. The enemy’s tactic remains the same. The difference is it’s tailored to what people want to hear today.

‘…for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.’ (Bible, 2 Corinthians 11:14).

Friend, do not be deceived. There is a reason God forbid spirit communication and called it an abomination–it leads people into deception and separation from HIM. There is one true Gospel, and One way to salvation for the forgiveness of sins. Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6 NIV.

So be aware of this latest book. Be discerning of all the “gone to heaven”, “messages from heaven” books which are out there. Remember this admonition from 1 John 4:1 “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.”
