Ex Satanist, Gina Marisa’s views on Halloween.

Gina Marisa Sarlin, an online Christian friend, was once involved in Satanism. The Holy Spirit drew her gloriously to Jesus and she became His beloved daughter. Hallelujah!

I asked what her views are on Halloween. Gina kindly gave me permission to share her note below and also to share her testimony here very soon.

    gina-marisa-sarlin-ex-satanis-bicara-soal-hallowen_jpg

She told me when she was still a Satanist, Halloween was a special day for her, it was her “faveorite day.” Is that not a very telling statement?

      2 Corinthians 6:14

Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?

Gina wrote, “Many in our secular society believe Halloween is nothing more than a harmless festival that allows kids to collect candy. But is it? Its origins lie deeply rooted in the Occult, and Christians should stay away. Here are ten reasons why …

    1. October 31st has long been known as “The Festival of the Dead.” The Celtic tribes and their priests the Druids celebrated this day, as a marker for the change from life to death.

Some types of witches claim to astral project

  • 2. Halloween today is still performed by adherents of Witchcraft who use the night for their rituals. Some types of Witches celebrate Halloween as the “Feast of Samhain,” the first feast of the Witchcraft year.

Being a ‘festival of the dead’, Halloween is a time when witches attempt to communicate with ‘the dead’ through various forms of divination.

    3. Christians should not be involved with occultic practice or divination. Note God’s command against divination in Deuteronomy 18.

    4. Occultists believe Halloween is a time of transition between life and death. Some occult practitioners practiced divination and believed you could learn the secrets of life and wisdom by lying on a grave and listening to the ‘messages’ from the ‘long-departed’.

    5. Occultists also taught that ‘spirits’ and ‘ghosts’ left the grave during this night and would seek out warmth in their previous homes. Villagers, fearful of the possibility of being visited by the ghosts of past occupants, would dress up in costumes to scare the spirits on their way. They would also leave food and other treats at their door to appease the spirits so they would not destroy their homes, or crops, but instead move on down the road. That is the real reason why kids dress up in costumes today and go door-to-door seeking treats.

    6. Occultists also would try to scare away the spirits by carving a scary face into a pumpkin. This horrible visage would hopefully move the spirit on to another home or village and spare that home from destruction. Sometimes the villagers would light a candle and place it within the pumpkin and use it as a lantern (hence the name, Jack-o-Lantern). This is the origin of carving pumpkins at Halloween.

    7. In some Witchcraft covens, the closing ritual includes eating an apple or engaging in fertility rites. In the Bible (Genesis 3), eating a piece of fruit brought sin and death into the world. In witchcraft, eating an apple is symbolic of bringing life. The practice of bobbing for apples brings together two pagan traditions: divination and the fertility ritual.

    8. Schools are removing any religious significance from Christmas, (often called winter break) and Easter, (spring break). Isn’t it ironic that most public schools still celebrate Halloween even though it has occultic origins?

    9. Participating in Halloween gives sanction to a holiday that promotes Witches, divination, haunted houses, and other occultic practices.

    10. Christians should avoid Halloween and develop creative alternatives. Churches can hold a Fall Fun Festival and/or celebrate Reformation Day (also October 31). They should not endorse or promote Halloween.”

I also shared this article on Twitter, LinkedIn and the Facebook page I Hate Halloween.  On that Facebook page alone, it had 13, 670 views during it’s first day!

For a Facebook post to have 13 thousand views in one day is incredible! It shows just how ‘hot’ a topic this really is. Praise the Lord so many have read Gina’s article!

Actually the Bible says “My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge”. And not because they don’t know, but because they refused to know……. they rejected knowledge. Some of the comments here seem to illustrate that rejection of knowledge.

I have had the opportunity to counsel one of Anton LeVay’s sons (the “white sheep” of the family), as well as connect with members of the church of satan, one of whom was scheduled to offered as a sacrifice. This gives me a unique perspective that the average person doesn’t get to see.

I always subtlety “test” the stories I hear from people like this, and have verified the accuracy of their stories.

As Christians we need to stay as far away as possible from anything that reeks of satanism, the occult and paganism.

My maternal family had Spiritualist background, and one of my childhood books was an excellent children’s story about the origins of Christmas customs: every one of them had a pagan explanation, all recounted by Santa Claus, who carefully explained his own origin as “Saint” Nicholas. So even though I grew up with minimal Church input (although the Lord kept a close eye on me, as I realised when I finally came to know Him properly in my late 30s, in 1998), I have always known how pagan the Church festivals are.

My children now sigh over my refusal to have anything to do with the pagan festivals. Tonight my 10 year old has complained about being bullied because I give out Church youth club leaflets to any trick or treaters, with an explanation that we do not do trick or treat. I am sad not to be country dancing, I would have liked to exercise that way, and shared that pleasure with my daughter, but I now know the dances and the Maypoles originate with fertility rites. I know about Halloween, Christmas, and Easter, and yoga, and as new things arise to challenge me, I try to research them. In this internet age, ignorance is no excuse whatsoever.

I submit to my husband’s authority in that he wishes to celebrate Christmas and Easter, but I ask him to consider such and such way of doing it which is more in keeping with Scriptures, or this or that understanding of origins, or perhaps we could replace this with that or that with this in order to try and present more of the Gospel and less of the sentiment.

More particularly, I am helping him see the hidden teachings within the media (mostly films and spin-off TV series’) which are currently assaulting us. I have always said that Disney was dangerous: very good at what they did, of course – they are, after all, the world leaders by about 60 years – but morally dangerous in the “ethics” that they teach to young children. To my astonishment, however, I’m discovering that Dreamworks are even more dangerous than Disney. The “How To Train Your Dragon” series (HTTYD) is a particular problem for me.

HTTYD can be summed up as having a subplot that reads like this: There is an enemy, a creature/being which has powers which you do not, and which can harm you. This enemy has been harming you for a long time. But now one of you has made friends with the enemy, and has learned some things about it, and has discovered that it is not what you thought it was; it can have aspects that can be called intriguing, exciting, wonderful, breathtaking, intelligent, friendly, communicative, lonely, appealing, cute, devoted, brave, honourable, inspiring, noble, loyal, etc. The enemy becomes a friend, and moves beyond friendship to become a kind of friendship that surpasses and supplants ordinary one-to-one human interpersonal relationship. Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a way for you, the viewer, to have such a relationship too?

HTTYD has a subplot that is very similar to the Pokemon and other manga-generated “here is a creature with powers, we can control the creature with powers” subplots. The main difference is that HTTYD presents the control as a friendship/partnership, not as a control.

But the basic premise is still directly out of the occult. It’s all about controlling power beyond the mortal.

I lived for 25 years with a secret world like that, although I never let it get into anything as deep as Laura and Gina have shared about. But I read a little, learned a little: enough to know what _not_ to touch, enough to be able to recognise dangerous territory. People think I’m over the top when I share my warnings. I say: time has proven me right in other matters; the only safe path is the narrowest one of all. If you don’t draw your lines close to zero, you soon lose track of where you did draw them.

Thank you for sharing. I hope my long comment has not inconvenienced your page 🙂

Gina Marisa doesn’t know the difference between general information and reasons for not observing Halloween. I might add that she is less literate than Mike Tyson. I wouldn’t be surprised if Tyson has a fuller understanding of the occult and Satanism. Spreading her mindless drivel and touting Gina as an occult expert only diminishes the credibility of your point which is somewhat valid. If you have a reasonable argument, don’t treat the reader like a moron.

  16. What a load of rubbish!!! God does not judge a person by what holiday you celebrate, he looks at your life and how you lead it, by doing good, and helping people. the kids and parents are not actively worshiping the Devil. I am sick to my stomach of you Christians who always judge what people do. Religion is a Pagan belief, and I say everyone to their own, stop judging what people do, and who says that this ex satanist, is still not a satanist in disguise to try and fool you narrow minded Christians.
I don’t believe what churches of any religion say anymore, religion is evil, believe in the almighty God, and let him lead you on your own path, not on a path that the church dictates to you!!!

Isn’t the path to salvation a narrow one? God encourages us to take narrow paths and be different from the world. There’s a difference between not participating in halloween simple because you are afraid of God’s (or others’) judgement, and not participating in it because you want to stay as far away from evil things as possible because you are thankful for what Jesus did for you on the cross and want to honor Him with your decisions and the “narrow” path you take.

Jesus said”I am the way,the truth and the light, no one comes to the Father as through Me” We cannot have any close relationship with the almighty God without Jesus Christ his beloved Son who took our sins so we can have no obstacles in communication with the Father. That is why as you say “narrow minded” Cristian believe in Christ, otherwise there is no hope to come to the Father. Thanks to our God who saved us from sin through Jesus .Thanks to God for the Holy Spirit who helps us discern what is right in God’s eyes and what’s not. God is the one who “dictates” us as long as we are there to listen and obey. Do we really want to know His will? Do we read His Word to find out what’s His views and opinions are….Do we care at all???…May God bless you!

Christianity is not a “religion”…

It’s not judging when it’s only reinforcing what the bible says. God will judge us all….people think they can do and live any kind of way and still belong to Christ but it doesn’t work that way. Don’t take my word for it. Get on your knees and ask God yourself and I believe He will reveal Himself to you. I am only alive today because He healed my as a baby when I had a disconnected vein to my heart and God connected it right before I was suppose to go into surgery. The non believing doctor even said “there has to be a God”. So you see, when a believer speaks it’s out of love and wisdom not to judge…because personally I’d love to get free candy but because I know what it stands for I will not go out there and let my kids go celebrate a dark night such as Halloween. I mean even when you think of it the theme is evil with monsters, devils, witches and such…how can that be good. The bible speaks against witches but yet I will go celebrate a holiday who glorifies them and death

  17. I left the mainstream christian church cause of all its pagan practices/ witchcraft.. it truly has walked away from the word.. the one truth about it is the warning letters to the churches of Revelation & I think that the warnings are still valid for the churches today.. & many refuse to listen to God’s voice.. I do feel that many lamps will be taken from those churches If they refuse to listen.. I myself was delivered from the occult and I did stay in the pagan practices of these holidays.. but I have allowed the Holy Spirit to work in me to accept his Holy Days/ feasts that he gave in the bible. My cousin whom is a believer in Jesus is an example of those who do not walk fully.. she gave up on the research about pagan holidays that believers celebrate still today.. she believed her relationship was more important then the research.. Does that not sound dumb? My friend is right there is a small remnant of true believer’s.. not many found in the churches. Those who truly want the Lord whole-heartedly are not found in the churches that have defiled themselves with the world.

I was involved in a Christian group that went ministring in night clubs in the late 1990’s. These night clubs had active satanic cults in them and halloween time they would sacrifice animals and let the blood run on the walls.

The amazing part is that when we went in prayed up and speaking the word of God they often ran away in fear.

Every night club we went to have closed down.

Remember that for every demon there are two angels. The battle is already won. We have nothing to fear. God protects us even in our ignorance. All we have to do is trust and live under the amazing grace God gave us.

We can do nothing to deserve what Jesus did for us. We cannot repay it in any way. All we need to do is accept it, follow Jesus and live in gratitude.

For those we haven’t got a personal relationship with Jesus and haven’t accepted him as you saviour, there is no time like now.

For those dabbling in the dark arts, satanic worship know that you can be set free. You can be saved. Jesus will take away your sins. His blood will purify you and he will give you power and eternal life.

I bless you in the name of Jesus Christ, the son of the only true God who became flesh to die for our sins so we may be redeemed.

I will say that Gina is absolutely correct on halloween… as a former witch, myself… I was always amazed at Christians adopting pagan practices and just renaming them as godly… After reading the Bible, getting to KNOW God through the Messiah, there’s no way around the practices that I know that are pagan… even the bible tells us not to worship God with the customs or traditions of the pagan/heathen or unbeliever. Christmas wasn’t even an accepted practice among Christmas until Coke made it popular… before then, it was purely pagan in origin and in practice. The book of Jeremiah, as well as Ezekiel and Isaiah all confirm that much… God has asked His children not to worship Him in that manner… So the biggest question is why are so many still deceived on the facts that customs of easter and chirstmas are VERY pagan?

  20. Sherry says:

Christmas and Easter are also pagan in origin… the same thought process of “But it’s not what it means to me” needs to be applied… God gave us His holidays, get to know God’s special days, the Feasts of God are His and are for ALL His children, including us grafted into Israel.
